Ginsberg's Howl
Expressive Typography Project for Typography 1
Expressive Typography Project for Typography 1
The parameters of this project were to explore the use of expressive typography to visually illustrate a poem or lyric to then create a moving design completely out of text that takes into account the sound and tempo of words. For my piece I chose the first few lines of beat poet, Allan Ginsberg's controversial poem "Howl". The highly descriptive diction and aggressive content made for a perfect study in word imagery and typographic tonality.
